Step By Step Instructions:
Heirloom Tomato, Basil, Avocado, & Tuna Melt Sliders
→Skip instructions, I’m a pro!
I am obsessed with these lil baby sandwiches! These small bites have everything you could want in a slider! Fresh tomatoes, delicious avocado slices, shredded Mexican cheeses, and an absolutely amazing tuna mixture! They’re perfect for lunch, or a busy weeknight dinner. Pair them with a quick side and you’re good to go 🙂
Note: This particular recipe was made with an amazing loaf of bread that I stumbled upon while browsing around The Raleigh Night Kitchen, and was made with cornmeal and cheddar but, any loaf of bread you choose to buy will work just fine for these sliders!
To Make the Tuna Salad:
1. Open both tuna cans and empty them into a strainer to remove the water, and then transfer the tuna into a small glass mixing bowl
2. To the same bowl add in the mayo, lemon juice, salt, ground pepper, dried spices and herbs, and mix well and set aside
To prep all your ingredients:
3. Slice the Avocado in half, remove the seed and skin, and slice into thin pieces
4. Slice off the top of the tomato to remove the stem, and then slice the tomato into thin circles
5. Chop up the fresh basil
To Make Tuna Melt Sliders w/ Heirloom Tomatoes, Basil, Avocado, & Cheese:
6. Set the oven to 375. Slice the bread in half so you have the top and bottom separate, then stack them on top of each other, and slice into 4’s, this allows you to create 4 slider buns
7. Place all the bread pieces on a baking sheet, and separate the tops from the bottoms
8. Smear the onion cream cheese on the top buns, then place a tomato slice on top of the smear, sprinkle with cheese, and fresh chopped basil
9. Place the tuna mixture on the bottom pieces, and top those with a little cheese as well
10. Bake in oven on 375 for 10 minutes, or until desired crispiness has been reached 🙂
11. Once sliders have been removed from oven, place the avocado slices on top of the tuna side, then add the top buns and serve!
